Set Yourself Up For Success This New Year

Filed Under (Self Help) by swapquot on 30-11-2009

Gabriella Goddard, Success Coach asked:

It’s 2008 and just as you did last year, and the year before that, you’ve probably set some New Year’s resolutions. By the time you get to February, these will be long forgotten as you get caught up with the daily grind of life.

Why not make a fresh start this year and do things differently by following this simple 5 step process. It’s easy, effective and very practical. It will help you make the changes that you know you need to make to bring new happiness into your life . . . starting right here, right now.

STEP 1: ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS

Take a few moments and reflect upon the past 12 months. Think about the high points and low points. Spend at least 5 minutes reviewing your past achievements. Then write down your answers to the following questions:

-My biggest achievements in 2007 were

-Some of the things I wanted to achieve but didn’t are

-What stopped me was

STEP 2: CREATE YOUR FUTURE

As you sit here, contemplating the year ahead, realize that many of the things you do want in your life CAN happen. So cut out three paper circles and title them ’same,’ ‘better’ and ‘best.’ These are your 2008 film reels. Now think about the year ahead and what you really want out of all the areas in your life-relationships, career, money, personal growth, health, family and friends, social life and your physical environment. Then pick up the film reel you want to choose: “same,” “better,” or “best.” Now write the script for that film.

STEP 3: MAKE IT FEEL REAL

Walt Disney once said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” What you imagine is a powerful precursor to success. That’s why your next activity is to create a Vision Board. Simply go through some magazines and cut out pictures that visually represent what your achievement looks like, feels like, smells like, and sounds like. Pick out images, colors, words, and patterns that best represent your most important dreams and achievements for the year ahead. Then make a collage of your pictures. Reflect upon these and really feel what it would be like to achieve your dreams.

STEP 4: PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE JOURNEY

Whenever you instigate any change, you create resistance. After all, it’s so much more comfortable sitting in the comfort zone isn’t it? But if you want things to be different, then you’re going to have to make changes. In a journal, draw three columns going across the page and title them ‘the change,’ ‘the obstacle,’ and ‘the solution.’ In the first column, list the changes that you will need to make to bring your 2008 aspirations into reality. In the second column write any obstacles and finally, brainstorm and come up with some solutions. You will notice, that when there is a will, there’s a way!

STEP 5: PRIORITIZE AND GO FOR IT!

Now it’s time to summarize and prioritize. Being focused is important for turning ideas into action. Put the first things first, and make sure your goals are specific and achievable and that you have a ’support person’ to keep you on target. To finish, review all the good work you have done so far and make a list of no more than 5 goals. Nominate somebody to whom you will be accountable to, and determine how and when you will update them.

Finally, remember that you can do anything if you really put your mind to it. Is Success An Illusion?

Filed Under (Self Help) by swapquot on 13-11-2009

Stephen Campbell asked:

If I tell you, success is an illusion, would you believe me? Many of the people, who reply in the negative, are yet to come across this basic truth of life. The day you realize this, achieving success will become an easier task for you. All of us are born for different reasons. All of us have different goals in life. All of us have varied psychology and self image. But one thing remains common: all of us want to achieve success. But are all of able to do that?

The only reason why all of us are not successful is because the meaning of success for each of us is distinct. The first obstruction in the road of success is understanding the meaning of success. The meaning of success differs from person to person and time to time. As the kid, success might be doing well in your examinations. For a person in a relationship, success might mean to have a good relationship. For an artist, success may mean creating a nice painting. For an entrepreneur, success could be setting up a big business. One person’s success may be very trivial in the eyes of the other person.

We all want success? But why? Why is every human being in the quest for success? Why does he need achievements in his life? The best answer would be: Because success doesn’t come alone. It brings happiness and satisfaction with itself. But is it true in every case? Just imagine, if you have all the luxuries in life and a lot of money but no one to share your thoughts with, how would you feel? Would you consider yourself to be a success? Would you be happy? Would you be satisfied? Well, you might be successful and earn a lot of money but if you are not happy with your life, its all a waste.

Ask any of the successful people what is the meaning of success for them. They will always say: It means happiness! None of us would like to trade our happiness for success. What I want to emphasize is, success is hugely misconceived. We generally end up saying that we want to be successful, when in reality we crave for happiness. A person who earns less but leads a happy and a satisfied life is much more successful than the people who are very successful in their respective fields but don’t have the peace of mind. The meaning of success is truly achieved when your life is full of happiness and satisfaction. If you lack these two elements in your life, no matter what your achievements are, you remain incomplete.

Always bear in mind, success may or may not bring happiness, but happiness always brings success with it. Being successful is very different from being happy. Happy people radiate a positive energy; they are more confident and widely liked by the society. This makes them more susceptible to becoming successful. On the other hand, if you think that happiness will automatically follow success, you might be disappointed. Consider a working mother who has a small baby. For a mother, her happiness lies in being with her child. She considers herself successful only if she is able to develop her child into a good human being. On the other hand, for a working woman, success lies in becoming an avid achiever at their workplace. These two things cannot go hand in hand. A successful career needs a lot of devotion.

So does maintaining a happy and content family. So, it up to the woman to decide what she wants from her life. If she chooses to be a good mother, she cannot pay undivided attention to her work and vice versa. The only thing which can help her decide the right course is where her happiness lies? What would give her more satisfaction? Because no matter what she chooses, she’ll definitely be successful in one of her goals.

There are similar choices we need to make everyday in life. At that point of time, it isn’t success which matters, its happiness and contentment. So whenever you are stuck in such a situation, ask yourself. What is the meaning of success for you? And if the answer is ‘Happiness’, please don’t say you want to be successful. Say that you want to be happy!!

To your Happiness.

The Secret Ingredient To Success Is Your Life Force: Learning Self-Command

Filed Under (Self Help) by swapquot on 09-11-2009

Vickie Jimenez asked:

You can search for success all your life and read book after book, on how to improve success in your life and after reading all these books still not have that secret ingredient to the success you envision. A lack of success leaves evidence, clues and keys as to why it has not shown up yet and if you put your Sherlock Holmes cap on and instead of investigating the seen with “my dear Watson” investigate the seen with “my dear self-command” you will achieve success. With self-command you can gently look at where you would like to achieve more success and explore that area of yourself for evidence and clues to find the keys that manifest the success you envision.

Success leaves keys and clues and one of the most overlooked keys to success is your “life force.” You will not have strong success without your life force being fully engaged. Life force comes from you and is the strongest ingredient to manifesting success in your success tool kit. Your life force is so empowering that it helps you manifest the seemingly impossible easily and gives you unprecedented courage, strength and drive to act on and become your vision. Life force can move you effortlessly through times in your life that may appear to be wrought with obstacles. If you want true success and command strong self-leadership, you must learn how to operate and empower your life force to give you maximum power and self-command.

The key to operating and empowering your life force, so that you can propel your success vision, is to learn how your life force operates. Your life force is produced by a combination of your thoughts, feelings creating a chemical cocktail that is dispersed into your body and will either impair or empower this force and field of energy that results in the actions you take toward your vision. The equation is simple.

(T+F= body chemical compound) = life force + action = movement toward vision and wanted success)

The key to life force empowerment is to understand that life force is your transceiver. It transmits and receives information to everyone and everything around you all the time. Your success transceiver has transmitting power and that power can be at a low or high wattage. When you have a low wattage life force transmission the success you envision will not easily transmit or be received. If you want more success then you need to turn up the wattage to your life force so it can propel your results.

You do this by paying attention to the body chemical compound you are producing by your thoughts. You produce body chemicals by what you are telling yourself. You can empower your life force simply by observing how you operate and what you tell yourself on a daily basis. Success is built on becoming the picture you envision for yourself. Becoming what you envision means, walking, talking, thinking, eating and acting like the vision you have in your mind, now, you do this now. You must walk towards your vision by implementing the daily practice of who you want to become. You do not visualize until you become your vision. You visualize as you are becoming your vision and your life force will transform and implement that vision until it manifest.

Your life force will become stronger as you move toward your vision and success happens. You will tap into having endless life force because you begin to not just have faith. No, it’s much deeper because you begin to believe. When you put belief chemicals into your body, nothing can stop you from achieving your success.

What Is Success?

Filed Under (Self Help) by swapquot on 03-11-2009

Roy Thomsitt asked:

I recently read a thread in a forum in which somebody was dismissive of other people who wrote about success. His argument was that they wrote about success but were not successful themselves.

I made no comment, just smiled as others were diving in to dismiss what was nothing more than a self glorifying remark. To make such a statement he must have had a very narrow minded view of success, presumably relating success to massive wealth. Even on such a narrow, and plainly silly, definition, how on earth could he know whether others who wrote about success had been successful or not? Clearly, he could not.

With that statement he had insulted just about every person on the planet who could write. Success is a very personal and individual achievement. You could examine the life of any other person, and pinpoint successes in their lives; and if they could write, they could write about success. Those successes may be beyond the vision of somebody who is arrogant and judges people by their level of conspicuous wealth. However, those little successes in that person’s life may be of relative importance to that person, whether a child, teenager or adult, and also to their family and friends.

Success is always relative, and can relate to just about any aspect of human existence. Nobody should just be dismissed as unsuccessful by others. An individual can, of course, be unsuccessful in a particular endeavour; even so, if they set out on that endeavour at all, then they are more “successful” than somebody who never found the impetus to do so, even though they want to.

It is even possible to “succeed” and “fail” at the same time. Taking an example from my own life, in my late teens I wrote my first two novels. I felt very satisfied, and considered the second novel at least a success, even though I could not find a publisher and never made a penny from it. As a novelist, I was a failure; yet I felt success.

When considering your own success it is worth bearing in mind a dictionary definition, just to help keep it in perspective: success is “An event that accomplishes its intended purpose.” That is really all it is; it does not have to be about conspicuous wealth, nor does it have to be highly public.

The most obvious successes are, of course, visible in public and can often be accompanied by conspicuous wealth. However, you will usually find those successes have been preceded by a lot of smaller and less obvious successes, and failures as well, all of which were essential to that ultimate and big success that everyone sees today.

A famous and successful musician, for example, may have had their first success in mastering their first tune on a guitar. It was an essential success, but small and insignificant at the time. That same musician may have had their first public performance, when everything went wrong and the audience booed, and been dismissed by those present as a failure. Yet, it was an important step to their ultimate success.

Long term success in anything depends on a series of steps, each of which has to be taken to get to the ultimate destination. Each step can be its own little success, or sometimes a failure that sparks the greater effort that leads to ultimate success. Each is as important as the other.

The Truth About Success

Filed Under (Self Help) by swapquot on 16-10-2009

Herbert Harris asked:

The Truth About Success

Success is generally defined as a favorable or satisfactory outcome or result. Whatever you do in your life, you get results. Whether or not those results are the ones you desired, is basically whether you succeeded or failed in your endeavors. Success is often defined as the gaining of wealth, fame, rank and so on. However, in the most general terms, success is the the continuous realization of the outcomes or results you desire.

On the physical level, success is often seen as specific material accomplishments—a particular type of car, home, status, or income level. However, once the car, home or other material possessions are obtained, there is no further growth in understanding, wisdom, or consciousness. Those who operate on this material level of success generally become consumed with maintaining those possessions that  represent their success.

When success is understood on a spiritual level, it is seen as a progressive realization of a worthwhile purpose. You continue to grow and develop in all aspects. On a spiritual level, success is the continuous unfolding of your purpose and destiny.

True success is the progressive, continuous effort of attaining your goals and realizing your vision. This guides you to your worthwhile purpose in life.

Success Must Be In Your Mind First

Success starts in your own mind. Constantly have a concept and vision in your mind of what success means to you.

“You become what you think about most of the time.”

—Earl Nightingale

Be Constant In Your Efforts

Never take a break from your success journey. Do not stop for rest and reward too soon. When you stop at the first sign of success, you become stagnant, lazy, and begin to decline. As your efforts begin to produce rewards and results, work even harder. Success and achievement come only through continuous work. The only place that success comes before work is in the dictionary.

Get Away From The Crowd At The Bottom

One of the most difficult steps you will face on your success journey is getting away from the crowd at the bottom. There are many unsuccessful, mediocre people who have failed to recognize, or act on their true potential. If you constantly associate with them, your success journey will be short-lived. You must clear the deck to make room for new associations which will complement and enhance your success efforts.

Once you break away from the mediocre crowd, accept the temporary state of loneliness and prepare for your success.

Be Willing To Change Your Life Completely

You must be willing to change your life completely. Make your life congruent with, consistent with, and harmonic with your desired success. Is there anything about the way you think or feel about yourself that will frustrate your success efforts? If so, handle it immediately. Do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to become the person that you must be, to accomplish your goals and realize your vision.

Every day, in every way

I’m getting better and better

Success in Life: Accomplishing Your Goals and Achieve Success

Filed Under (Self Help) by swapquot on 06-10-2009

Alexander Day asked:

Achieving success in life is a journey, full of trials and tribulations, ups and downs, the good and the bad but most of all its one big learning experience. When you realize that you are not the only person who goes through bad circumstances or bad situations, things become a bit clearer. Everybody has negative impacts of some kind in life and that should help you realize that you are not alone in this world. Achieving success is largely about how you respond to those negative situations and how well you pick your self back up and continue fighting for your dreams. It is your dreams and nobody else is going to fight for them for you. It is up to you to define those dreams and fight to achieve them.

Defining Your Success

Your success story cannot be built by anybody else, it cannot be written by anybody else because you are the one with the pen. You must define your own success. Figure out what it is that you most enjoy in life, where you see yourself years from now and what you want to accomplish in life. These are the questions you need to ask yourself in order to define your success. Take time out to really find out where you see your life going and what direction you really want it to go in. Your life is much like a game of chess, checkers or even dominoes, you have to think head of time about what you want to achieve. Then you have to figure out how you can achieve that within your next couple moves. When figuring out what you want to achieve in life and what you view being successful in life really means to you, you can then use that as your definition of success. Once your success is defined then you make the necessary steps to attaining that success.

Knowing Your Value and Purpose

Every human being is created equally but also created uniquely aswell. Do you believe it was just by change that you were born with the qualities you have? With the faults that you have? Or do you believe it was an accident that you were blessed with the family you were born into? I don’t think chance or accident are words that cover my life and all the variables in my life and I don’t believe you should denounce your life to chance or accident.

I wake up every morning and open my eyes, breathe fresh air and I thank the Lord for waking me another morning. After thanking God for another day I take a moment to appreciate all of his creations, the birds, the trees, the land and the sky. All of these things have a life of their own and they all play an integral part in this great universe that we live in. All animals, reptiles and insects play their part in the food chain, even when we think certain insects may simply be useless (i.e. mosquitoes) but in the grand scheme of things they play a part. Everything with a life force on this planet does what it is suppose to do effortlessly and harmoniously with the universe.

Man was made in the image of the Lord, birds weren’t made in his image, neither was any other animal but we human beings were blessed and made in his image and placed here on Earth to rule over all his creations. We were made the most unique and complex of all his creations and we were made with a purpose. Everything else has a purpose and a reason for being here and so do we, it is for us to find out what that purpose is so that we can spend more time working to fulfill that purpose. Once we understand our purpose, our dreams will become clearer to us. How do you find out what your purpose in life is? You ask your creator. Only the creator of an invention can tell you what the function of that invention is. You are totally unique and like nothing else in this world, so stand out to the world like that, shine the way that you were made to shine, fulfill your purpose!

Accomplishing Your Goals

Since you were crafted to perfection by the greatest craftsman of them all and you were so uniquely made that there is nothing else like you on this planet, you should believe in yourself. I mean you are unique which makes you just as special as any other person out there. So why is it that other people should be allowed to enjoy the benefits of being successful and wealthy but not you?

There is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to reap the benefits of success. You must admit to yourself that if you are no as successful as you want to be at this very moment you are probably doing something wrong. if you can admit that your own way is foolish and you are no longer interesting in living how you were living before then we can truly start to see some progress. Accomplishing your goals is a matter of discipline and determination.

The reason so many people fail to achieve their goals in life is that they never really set them in the first place.” – Denis Waitley

You first need to set your goals and understand the work it is going to take to achieve those goals. Even if you have no idea what exactly you are going to do to achieve them. Knowing what your goals are is a big enough step at first.

You want to set long-term goals for your self as well as short-term goals. Long-term goals for trying to accomplish your lifetime goals and short-term goals as progress points and milestones to keep you focused on achieving your lifetime success. You need to have more than just a good idea as to the amount of work necessary to accomplishing your dreams and goals. You want to make an effective plan. Your plan will be your blueprint to achieving success and accomplishing your goals.

People don’t PLAN to FAIL, they simply FAIL to PLAN.

Planning is an essential part of achieving success because no business, no corporation or no state was built without a plan. Many people have dreams, many set goals but without a plan to execute, in order to work towards those dreams and those goals, you merely have nothing. Action has to be taken in order to get through your journey to success.

Have a clear definition of what success means to you and have a clear vision of yourself being successful. Understand how much value you offer to this world and figure out what your purpose is and your vision of success will become clearer. With a definition of success and a vision, you only need to equipped yourself with a plan and take action by executing it. Your success is only just around the bend. Learn to be successful, live in success and empower others through your success.

To Your Success!

It is your destiny to be wealthy.  The Universe is abundant.  It is your birthright to attract wealth, Love, friendship, health, joy and happiness.  It’s true we are all responsible for creating our own destinies. There are many exercises given in books which emphasize the importance of becoming wealth conscious to attract wealth. The problem is almost every time you try to do some of those exercises of wealth consciousness you will find a lot of resistance from your sub-conscious mind.  This is due to our own negative belief system and it is this which we need to learn to control.  We need to learn to control the emotions behind our thoughts.   Creating a completely new thought pattern and way of thinking and not going back, accepting your old way of living a life lack of wealth consciousness. There are many wonderful books which teach you about attracting wealth using law of attraction. Most often, people buy these books due to the belief they already posses about the authenticity of law of attraction because of the incidents in their lives.
